American Airlines passenger trapped by man’s stinky feet — demands full refund

An American Airlines customer is demanding a full refund after claiming he was forced to sit through a six-hour “nightmare flight” next to a man’s stinky socked feet

The passenger, identified as Tyler L, boarded the overnight flight from JFK International Airport to Los Angeles expecting a quiet journey. Instead, he says, he spent the night with a stranger’s ripe, sock-clad feet wedged beside his headrest.

Tyler, who was seated at the window, says the man directly behind him slipped off his shoes shortly after take-off and stretched out—placing his sweaty socks in the gap between the wall and seat.

“The smell hit me like a wall,” Tyler said. “It was rank, it was smelly, and it never went away. I turned to see what it was and nearly jumped out of my seat—two big feet, right in my face.”

He claims he politely asked the man to move his feet, but was ignored. Flight attendants, he says, were sympathetic but told him there was nothing they could do as the plane was at maximum capacity.

Trapped in his seat, Tyler says he spent the entire six-hour journey with the stench of sour socks filling his nostrils, forcing him to cover his face with his shirt just to breathe.

“I paid hundreds of dollars for this flight,” he said. “Instead of sleep, I got a front-row seat to some guy’s stinky socks. I want a full refund—this was torture.”

The complaint has many siding with Tyler and slamming American Airlines for failing to intervene. Others joked that Tyler was lucky had endured the “mile-high sock sauna.”

The incident has reignited debate over passenger etiquette, with some calling for airlines to make sure they have at least 4 seats unoccupied or certain situations.
