New Poll Reveals Men Now Wearing Socks for Nearly 3 Days Straight

By Staff Writer – FootHubb New Poll

August 14, 2025 — A new nationwide poll conducted by FootHubb has uncovered a surprising — and slightly stinky — shift in habits: the average man is now wearing the same pair of socks for nearly three full days before changing them.

This is a notable jump from last year’s survey, which found men averaging just over two days per pair.

The latest poll surveyed 1,000 men across the U.S., aged 23 to 55, with the majority wearing shoe sizes between 12 and 17. Respondents were asked about their work schedules, the cost of socks for larger feet, and how long they wear a single pair of socks.

Why the Extra Day?

According to the data, men blamed rising clothing costslaundry expenses, and longer working hours as the primary culprits.

“We’ve reached the point where footwear habits reflect economic pressures,” said FootHubb lead researcher Kevin Marks. “When quality socks are expensive and working hours increase; people are going to stretch them longer.”

15 Statements from Men in the Poll

  1. Jake, size 15, 34, from Phoenix, AZ — a pack of socks for me costs more than a night out, so I wear them three days.”
  2. Marcus, size 14, 29, from Chicago, IL — I work 12-hour warehouse shifts, and changing socks midweek just doesn’t happen.”
  3. “ David, size 16, 42, from Atlanta, GA — laundry prices went up, my hours went up, and my sock days went up too.”
  4. Eric, size 13, 25, from Seattle, WA — I used to change daily, but now it’s every third day to save on water and detergent.”
  5. Luis, size 17, 38, from Houston, TX — socks for my feet aren’t cheap, so I make them last as long as possible.”
  6. Brandon, size 12, 28, from Denver, CO — I’m on the road delivering packages 14 hours a day, so my socks stay on until my day off.”
  7. “ Shawn, size 14, 46, from Las Vegas, NV — I wear them until they feel like cardboard, then I swap them.”
  8. “ Tim, size 15, 31, from Miami, FL — big socks wear out faster, so I wear them longer to get my money’s worth.”
  9. “ Anthony, size 13, 27, from Nashville, TN — before prices went up, I wore new socks daily. Not anymore.”
  10. “ Chris, size 12, 54, from Boston, MA — I stretch socks to three days because I’m working six days a week now.”
  11. “ Victor, size 16, 36, from San Diego, CA — laundry costs have doubled, so socks are lasting longer whether I like it or not.”
  12. “ Randy, size 14, 45, from Omaha, NE — changing socks during my shift isn’t realistic, so I just keep going.”
  13. “ Derek, size 12, 23, from Philadelphia, PA — I live in a tiny apartment, so I limit laundry trips to twice a month.”
  14. “ Henry, size 13, 39, from Detroit, MI — prices for big socks are ridiculous, so I wear them multiple days.”
  15. “ Paul, size 17, 55, from New York, NY — when you’ve got feet this big, every pair is an investment.”

From Two Days to Three

In FootHubb’s previous poll, the average sock lifespan was 2.4 days. This year’s 2.9-day average marks a 38% increase, with the most notable changes among delivery drivers, construction workers, and warehouse employees.

Bottom line: Men in America their feet are stinking a lot more and socks are working harder — and lasting longer — than ever before.
