According to the latest polling data, 31% of men surveyed said they regularly double up on socks, especially during work shifts, gym sessions, travel, and long days in boots.
The reasons vary, but many men say the extra layer helps:
- Capture sweat
- Create a tighter fit inside boots
- Reduce stinky foot smell
- Improve comfort
- Extend wear time between laundry days
- Save money on frequent washing
FootHubb analysts say the trend is especially common among blue collar workers, athletes, warehouse employees, and men wearing steel-toe boots for long hours.
One mechanic from Texas said double socking became a necessity after years of dealing with sweaty feet at work.
“My boots get brutal after 10 hours. Two pairs help absorb everything better.”
A warehouse worker from Ohio said the tighter feel inside work boots helps reduce friction and discomfort.
“Honestly, it just feels more secure when I’m moving all day.”
Another man from Florida admitted the habit also helps him stretch laundry days longer.
“Sometimes I’m working back-to-back shifts and double socks help me get through longer.”
One construction worker from California gave perhaps the bluntest answer of all.
“I know it’s stinking up 2 pairs of socks at once, but my feet sweat so bad, I need it.”
FootHubb says searches related to “double sock wear,” “layered gym socks,” and “2-pair sock wear” have all increased in recent months as more men discuss the foot habits online.
